I put a new map up in beta today. Post any feedback on the planet location or layout or whatever in this thread, please.

Known issues:

- No gate to Cass within Sag.
- Something else I've forgotten.

Yeah, that's changed.

Last night, I:

swapped position of Cincinnati and R33
moved the UGTO spawner to R33
moved the Lacerta gate to R33
added an ICC spawner to Cin
added the Cass gate to Cin

So they should be properly configured once I update the server.

Also, Ursa Major is now called Andromeda, so we don't have two Ursas. No changes to the systems or planets otherwise.

R33 Gate 1 is not orbiting anything.

R33 Gate 3 is off in deep space instead of being near a planet (as every other jumpgate is now, which I like), and is orbiting the gas giant Arturion instead of R33-8710 itself, despite being closer to the latter.

Personally, I'd like to see planetary clusters a bit tighter. For example, in R33, Paul has Benevolence orbiting it at about 3750 gu and Remembrance orbiting at about 5800. I'd rather they be about half that or less--and thus inside IT Missile range--so that we can get some awesome long-range fights going when different factions own planets within the same cluster.

That was vaguely the idea - gates near clusters (but not IN them completely) so you can have a bit of a "ooh, I should move" moment. Or not jump straight into the gate. Or be able to strike out at incoming fleets easily from your defensive positions. Basically, it seemed like it made things more strategic.

Clusters I don't mind tightening up, its just sometimes hard to tell how close they are without doing some trigonometry, which I don't generally do. Feel free to post a nice list of explicit changes you'd like to see and I'll make the edits when I'm back in town.

(FYI - I'm on work travel and on the road until Nov 7. Hopefully I can do edits on the 8th. Until then, just make note of all the problems you see and changes you'd like.

Also, to other admins, you can change the beta map if you want - just change the context path from ../sagittarius.prt in the beta server configure window to one of the other constellations, save, hit the bottom-most Restart. Wouldn't hurt to give each of the others a day or two of visibility and testing)
