No, not the movie.

This past semester I had to take some courses regarding electromagnetics, which is light.... waves of light. I understood the basics, but I am much more a visual learner. I had to see it. Well, I cant really simulate light, as it waves in all sorts of directions that are difficult to understand visually. Luckily, all waves behave more or less the same, so I made a simulator that looks more like water. This permitted me to put the equations from my assignments into the sim and SEE what I was supposed to see when looking at numbers and letters in a book.

Long story short, I let my focus wander and now its just a pretty cool water simulator. Not perfect, as I could list several properties of water NOT accounted for by the sim, let alone other stuff I do not know about water, but its still cool.

This program is not one of my interactive ones so much as a look at and say "oh, thats cool." I might modify the code in coming weeks to make it into some kind of toy you can interact with, but for now it's just a hypnotic little sim.

Here we go!

Ok. Instructions for use:

ZOOM control:

A = Zoom out.
Z = Zoom in.
S = Reset Zoom.

MOVE control:

X = Move Left.
V = Move Right.
C = Move Down.
D = Move Up.
E = Resets View to Original location.

SPIN control:

J = Rotates View (Use this one Mainly).
L = Rotates View in Opposite Direction.
K = Resets View to Flat.
M = Resets View to Edge.

For best understanding of surroundings, Press K and then use J to tilt view.
This will make your view 'upright'. Using L will make the world upside-down and hard to look at.

TIME control:

T = Start/Stop Time.

RESET control:

R = Resets everything except camera zoom, movements and rotations.

MODES: (NOT NUMBERPAD)

1 = Mode 1: Rain (Starts in this mode).
2 = Mode 2: Bathtub, Waves appear to reflect off edge of view (zoom out to see its actually just extra waves).
3 = Mode 3: Starfish (Circle of 5 waves hitting the center at the same time).
4 = Mode 4: Rogue Wave (Circle of 20 waves hitting center at same time to form MASSIVE amplification).
5 = Mode 5: Dipole (Two persistant waves).
6 = Mode 6: Variety (Several persistant waves of a variety of amplitudes and frequencies).
7 = Mode 7: Variety + Super Rain (Mode 6 with some high amplitude rain).

SPEED control: (NO NUMBERPAD)

8 = Sets no delay (fastest).
9 = Speeds up sim.
0 = Slows down sim (sim starts at slowest speed).

Water World 1

Sorry for forgetting people have faster computers than me.

It occurs to me that people probably have much faster computers than I, so I have changed the link to go to a new version of the game with an execution speed control similar to those found in my other projects.

Sorry. I always forget that.

Have you considered advanced dimensional analysis (ADA)? FLT?/MLT stuff? It simplifies pretty much everything! Encompassing ADA within programming can negate many neglidgable properties of a system and focus on more significant issues?
