Whenever a ship orbits a planet, docks, and spawns at a different planet; the ship automatically plots a course back to the planet it docked at under the order to orbit said planet. It's rather annoying, so fix it if you can

Weird. There's code in two places explicitly disabling that. One removes the orbit associated with the ship (in case you orbit then dock) when you garage it. The other sets your motion and heading and whatnot to 0 when you spawn, plus enters you into orbit of the planet with the shipyard.

This happens every time you

orbit
dock
spawn from a different planet?

Any specific information you can give would be handy, since there's no obvious bug in the code.

what happens is, we orbit planet A, then dock, the spawn at planet B, but the orbit command is sometimes kept, so even though its set to make our velocity 0, it starts to jump towards planet A after a second.

Its the "sometimes" that troubles me. Like I said, the code is pretty clear about breaking the orbit you had (to planet A).. and if you're coming out of a shipyard, its actually supposed to set you as orbiting B. So if its random, its harder to track down. Is it only some of the time? Try to document when you see it happen and we will have a better chance of finding the cause.

yeah it is a little random chance. its happens rarely, but when it happens its annoying. i'll try and find out when it happens if it happens again.

Say had your autopilot status as as orbit Illyria, but dock before you actually orbit; the original command still holds when you spawn in another SY/gate. Basically if there is any active autopilot command when you dock, it is retained in the garage.

making Note that:
You can use a shipyard when not YET in orbit but under 250gu from the shipyard.

Your ship can still have the order and be in motion towards the planet..

But as Shig said, i haven't seen this happen after that code was introduced.
Even did some testing after it was introduced, but that was almost a year ago..

Some code was added today to hopefully kill this once and for all.
