i stock pile canned food, and pastas,spices flour, etc ,anything that will keep when i do have money...cases and cases of all of it
i have had money problems before
now that i drive a truck i keep a minimum of 2 months of food on the truck in cases something happens (major repair on truck) so i can keep working and recover

hotdogs (8 in a pack, makes 4 meals for 1)
shop at the dollar stores for cheapest deals
Jiffy mix bisquits and corn muffins
corndogs
Hard to remember what I used to buy back when i was poor. lol
But I was very poor once, and used all those and my other suggestions.
