How do I get a higher rank. I just fly and fly in the game, and every time I attack I die cuz i have a little ship.

step 1 is subscribe. if you arent subscribed (or using that nifty little 14-day trial coupon you get when you sign up and validate your email), you wont be able to gain any prestiege.

2nd is learn basic mobility. there's guides in tactics&new players forum on that, but the gist is keep moving, keep turning. small ships might not do a lot of damage, but they're highly manuverable, use it to avoid fire and get behind larger ships.
also keep your distance from ships larger than your own, the farther away you are the more time you have to dodge.

and the manual's got basic overviews on bombing, building (again, more guides in T&NP forum)and supplying.

I wouldn't put expensive and DS in the same sentence; DS and another online game, yeah, but if you're not playing anything else, DS is now cheaper than most restaurant meals. Two hours minimum wage would pay for over seven hundred hours of DS, with enough left over for a deluxe candy bar.

Dark Space 10 USD per month
eve 20 USD per month
thats double the price not a little more expensive

so subscribe, rank up, and enjoy the game.. especially if you like playing it for free..
then see how you like it when you play with bigger ships, options and combat

all you have to do to increas your rank and prestiege is play:
build structures on planets
repair friendly ships
bomb planets to capture or destroy
engage in combat with enemy ships

... how easy is that.

try it out for a month and see how you like it

is this basiscly oke to play the game, cuz the grafics arent perfect while playing and sometimes its stuck. Games like EVE online and airrivals were to big for my pc, it sayed: you havent enough video memory (you needed 32MB)
Maybe good suggestions to perform my computer for a better look at the game (like video carts or something * mb??)?

2.1 Minimum System Requirements
DarkSpace requires the following minimum computer specifications to run normally:

o OS: Windows 2000/XP
o CPU: 700 mHz Intel/AMD
o Video: Second-Generation 3D Card (GeForce, Matrox G400, Graphics Blaster)
o Audio: Direct Sound compatible sound card required.
o Hard Drive: 150 MB
o RAM: 512 MB
o Internet Connection (56k modem or faster)
o Direct Input-compatible Mouse.
o DirectX 9.0c or higher

We recommend the following for best performance:

o OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
o CPU: 1000+ mHz Intel/AMD
o Video: 32MB Second-Generation 3D Card (GeForce, Matrox G400, Graphics Blaster)
o Audio: Direct Sound compatible sound card required.
o Hard Drive: 150 MB
o RAM: 1024 MB
o Internet Connection (ISDN, Cable, ADSL)
o Direct Input-compatible Mouse.
o DirectX 9.0c or higher

DarkSpace requires DirectX 9.0c or higher. All modern Windows machines require DirectX, but if you still need an update, click here.

GameCQ, DarkSpace's web and chat client, requires Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. Again, this is now standard issue software.

so answer is yes

No one never really tested a system with those minimum specs. But those specs should theoretical be able to run the DS client...

Just wanted to say that.

I can tell you a Nvidia Geforce 2 Ti200 64Mb is already enough to play darkspace..

But since the information you provided us gives us little about what graphics card/chip your using.

Tells me that your windows is using its prepacked driver for your graphics card.
So it still should be good to check out what kind of graphics card you actually have.

If found that it is a little to old, yes i would recommend upgrading to one better.
But no need to pay big bucks for them.
Here. Thats what I'm using for my DS machine currently. Payed 51 Euro for it at the time.
(No its not Newegg but a Dutch site considering he is Dutch.)

I noticed Baylen reached 1st RA in 6 days, which means he can already use a cruiser. I don't know why others couldn't do it also.
