I was lurking through a forum full of Goons and came across this free Swedish music service called Spotify (LINK).

It's basically a lot like Last.fm et al but with the lovely bonus that there is no restriction on what tracks you listen to. That means you can listen to whole tracks, skip, fast forward, rewind etc as much as you want for free.

The only catch is that, unless you pay, you have to suffer a 20 second radio ad every 5 or 6 songs, which, personally, I don't mind at all.

I've been using it a few days and listened to about 10 albums with it, and it's actually fantastic. They've got a fairly extensive (though by no means exhaustive) library. There are a few artists that are noticably absent (The Beatles and Metallica being the main ones that come to mind), but I can't really complain, even if the UI is a rip-off of iTunes.

Another thing is that there are a few countries that can't use the service, mainly the US and possibly Denmark (not 100% sure on that one, if we have any Danes that could double-check this I'd be grateful).

If you're American, then you can enjoy the similar, but US exclusive, Pandora.com

There does also seem to be an invite-only system going on, but, neither me nor any friends over here have had any problem just getting started without one.

If you try using Spotify and find that you do need an invite, I've got 4 to share, so just send me a PM with your email address and I'll send one along (first some first served), I'd just ask that you make a post here about it, otherwise I might forget to check.

Anyway, enjoy

Not music, but very useful for those of us in school:

http://www.easybib.com/#sourceList

automatically cites all those annoying references to works cited for you.

BTW, Pandora is cool! 2 bad the other isn't available in the US.
