Installing it on VM as we speak!

Well, a pre beta, I don't think release is the word for it..

Why? Too cheap to upgrade your pc?

As I recall, quite a lot of people had to upgrade from 98 to XP. This isn't new. It's just that microsoft haters always come up with something new to keep their unfounded hatred fresh and "cool".

the os has to use the least ressources possible.
And no, im not into the "upgrade the pc every 6 mointh" MO.

Reading round it seems that Windows 7 will use less resources than Vista, so no need to upgrade if you can run Vista.

Actually Windows 7 uses the same, a private group did a benchmark and found the claims Windows 7 is fast is a con...

But it’s a funny thing, you know. Because I’ve been running a few benchmarks, just to find out exactly what sort of speed boost we’re talking about. And I can exclusively reveal that the actual performance gap between Vista and Windows 7 is… nada. Absolutely nothing. Our Office benchmarks and video encoding tests complete in precisely the same time regardless of which OS is installed.1

Perception is reality

It’s tempting to see this as a bit of a con. They’ve sped up the front end so it feels like you’re getting more done, but in terms of real productivity it’s no better than Vista.

Good Info Tael but of course the are only benchmarking a Pre-Beta Release of Windows 7.
