Updated /data/ folder, .EXEs and .DLLs as of October 19, 2008 are available from DSCW
This is most of what you need to run the game, but not everything, you must still install 1.5 and then just overwrite the default installs with these files.
Enjoy and please report any errors or problems.

Might be a good suggestion, and i hope the dev's already taught of this:
When the bug hunting and 1.500 is finally stable to begin the PR about it.
Have a new exe created of that version, and notify the mirrors, aka the people in this thread to update.
Should help reduce the update strain, on DS servers at that time.

Possibly even send it out before release to people with the high speed servers available so that we're not caught up in the initial rush & can help spread the load at time of release.

Updated /Data/ folder & all .EXE's and .DLL's for 1.5 release as of 11/30/2008 is now available for download on DSCW for all new users. As major patches come out, the file will be updated as necessary.

Can we have a system where once an update roles out, the palestar side autocopies/uploads updated files to the mirrors?
And then being able to change the whatever.txt to the particular mirror?
Or even a mirror selection in the update program?.. Or auto select the closest one?

Problem how are the Supported mirrors going to integrate in what you are suggesting.
I have no problem creating a FTP account on my webhost with only access to the /clients/ directory.
But i can guess other people can't or don't know how to do that. and giving palestar complete access to your entire hosting directory isn't something i would allow, or palestar wants.
I have talked with drafell about something like that. (year ago) But didn't get far.

As far as I know the actual client installer hasn't changed since it was released, so there's really no need. DSCW just provides the updated files since it is a faster download (especially for those in Europe) that doesn't draw bandwidth from DS.

I think slinki was suggesting voluntarily run update mirrors.
Something in the form of "Steam content servers".
Problem is currently people are currently only donating HTML web space and bandwidth.
If one day there would be a system that the DS update files are mirrored next to the DS one's across voluntary servers. It would allow less bandwidth for DS, but this would require a system to guarantee that those mirrors are up to date.
I wouldn't mind hosting a update mirror but since there is no system yet, i don't see the advantage. so the least we can do is mirror the installer and what you at DSCW did host a zip with the latest patch data...
