IDEA:Wormhole Generation Platform with a WH I device uses and Resources just like other platforms but faster with 100% Resources it would last 2.5 minutes adding Resources will add time

And how, exactly, do you intend to make the platform generate a WH at a target?

Now if you would have to create two platforms who would generate a WH inbetween the platforms every X time, it'd make a little sense, but even so the idea seems... Well, not really practical.

when your within 50 GU's or so of the platform the WH icon appears above the target screen u then select a target on the navmap as u do with a normal WH and click the icon building a platform on the otherside is unnecessary

Eh, I see this being abused way too much and causing the problems we have right now with WH's spanning across the entire MV. Also, wormholes are being reduced to just within systems, which would make this somewhat useless.

Nice intent, but I don't see it working out.

The idea seems nice but impractical for the use of DS.
The main problem i see is the same what Bardiche sugested, How to order the destination target. If the old order system was still here i can imagine it possible, but currently i see no way how to do this whitout some extensive programing/coding.

Next up is the Fiction,
Why build a stationary Wormhole Generator platform that is unable to defend it self or run away as a military application. Especially when WH travel is two way.
The only function i see is to replace jumpgates. but why replace them, because we got platforms finally in the game ? (I won't design a new kind of pen when i can still use a pencil.)
Resources, everything costs something. considering the size of a wormhole generator and that it is state of the DS art technology i would think it would core than 4 fatties. a engineer can only carry 4, so what could build a WH platform? a command dread or station.. they already can equip a internal WH generator.

Adding a WH generator platform that replaces the Jumpgates and allow linking between two of those platforms to create stable connections between systems i would say yes
In that kind if image the idea seems nice but i won't see it happen anytime soon.

That would fall in line with the idea of player buildable & destroyable jumpgates - something thats been toyed with for a while... and make it require 12 fatties for each platform so that only a comm station can build it...

Actually one of the original intentions Faustus had for Jump gates was for a few core gates to exist but the rest to be player built on each side. And destroyable...

Just make it 8 fatties so a command class dread can't build it but still leave some cargo space over to the command station.

I hope that the original Idea of Faustus can be implemented someday, just the gates from the home system fixed and the rest all optional and destroyable.

I don't think WH platforms will ever be implimented. The stations are there for a reason, and they're given WH's for a reason.

Player owned jumpgates are another thing .

no stations could be an assault purpose WH
while platforms could be a common day use WH

meaning inorder to make a platform WH, you must have gained a firm control of that territory. Enough controll to build a wh platform on both sides of the WH

Dodo has a point... would make it a not-so-impossible task to get Stations to the front line before the battle is over.
