yet to happen to me.
But i'll be carefull to only get promoted while doing something constructive.
And i still remember all my promotion activities.
Ensign, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant & Lieutenant Commander > Skip't
(Already had enough stats to rank directly to Lieutenant Commander.)

quis, was that in lalande? when ICC ambushed the UGTO fleet? i dont think it was, but thats the battle it reminds me of. im pretty sure it wasnt actually, because i got all the ICC killed that day lol. pete will probably remember. we had 1 planet in lalande, UGTO had something like 2 stations plus a huge support fleet. we had a couple dreads around the planet, but that was just bait. about 50kgu out we had a fleet of 20 cruisers/dreads waiting. it took so much effort because had a bunch of newb cruiser pilots who wanted to jump right in on top of the UGTO, so pete and i were yelling at them constantly to shutup and stay still. then the UGTO jumped our bait, and oh goodness was that ever a beautiful sight... big long stretch of UGTO ships, their stations totally alone in the rear as we jumped our entire fleet in on them, totally butchering them and then following that up with 3 planets caps.
then we got set to take the kluth planet in the system. i *THOUGHT* everyone was ready, so i started a countdown at 5 seconds and then jumped, along with... 5 other ships, out of our 20 ship fleet. and of course everyone else thought itd be a good idea to follow one by one. i remember yelling at people to bail out and fighting back the kluth fleet, trying to make sure everyone aborted safely and that no one else was foolish enough to jump in. i think we only lost a couple ships but it killed our momentum for the night.
anyways, i only got FA when they switched the resources lost around so us admirals could keep our ADs. i sacrificed myself too many times to ever reach FA the oldfashioned way =) but, im full of awesome war stories if anyone wants to ask!

I remember mine. I specifically went into Fleet Admiral server in a drainer looking for my known enemies so one of them could be my rank increase.
I ended up just popping some random scout with a big CL2K blast, I believe.
My Grand Admiral promotion was uneventful.
I remember we paired nicely at one point because I was on a hardcore Hive kick and you were determined to get supply points, which I was in constant need of.

Got mine a few months after I joined [PB].
About 6 of us (Coombie, KC, 4cemje, GS and a couple of others) were doing our usual steamroller routine in the MV by capping a system in an effort to get some decent combat going. Me and 4cemje were in our usual claws (mine with nuke mines, his with AM mines) when some ICC decided to turn up for a sound thrashing. All I remember is 4cemje typing up a message saying something like "FA with a kill, nice".
Oh, such happy memories.

I remember being dragged into this new game by some old friends and being adopted by KC 
I remember, Chasing and being chased by Kluth in my beloved Larvae carrier.
And i remember all the fantastic battles and heart pumping close calls while escaping from the evil red squares

Fleet admiral, I forget. Some UGTO battle I was involved in..
Grand Admiral was a different story. Our $|P crew was sneaking around the mv capping entire systems in hives and unbeknownst to me I got an unexpected promotion to Grand Admiral flying side by side with Dempster, supplying in our intimidating hive duo. Wish my stories were full of more glitter like Quissy's, but they are not.
EDIT: Pretty sure $witch/antdizzle were present as well
