They'd look good in 3d as the nebulas, give them like a smoke effect kinda thing, when ships pass through them they carry the trail of them for x amount of seconds depending on there speed

Ya right pal. You want less lag...thats not the way to do it. Modeling and adding particles into this game at such a vast number to accomplish that would make this game a "play with the most expensive video card you can buy" kind of game.

I absoloutely love the kluth and icc blue tone system..

not so much the 'kluth revised' system...

EDIT: Just thought I'd emphasize my love for the second and third last posted pics by sanity. Also, even though you claim the smoke effect will lag.. I think it's an awesome idea if the devs find the time or motivation to add it, of course this is AFTER the structural integrity of the game is fixed
