"Suppose that Tortuga/Pirate base is a planet with no resources on it. It has a safezone around it, so you can't attack or capture it. Theirs a starport, and it's modified so every side can trade with it. Basically, you can go there to trade metals and items"

"it would work as a real market, and prices for different goods would go up or down."

"For example, if somebody bought an AMJ (which is like 5x over priced), the price would go up 5% for both sale and buy."

"The thing is, you don't get full compensation for what you bought"

"so if an AMJ is normally 60k and you buy it for 160k.......when your ship dies, you loose the 100k credits."

How you going to buy a device if it no longer is possible to have devices in your cargo.
All device swapping will be done in orbit of a friendly planet that has the required technology and resources.

Just a thought.

However when i think about it.
It should be a nice feature to add commodities to the game.
I know we don't want to copy other games but.
Some commodities: Cheese, Pie, Beer, Rum, K'Luth eggs, AI core blocks, ICC rank badges, UGTO officers clothing, 20th century Computers.

Some commodities would be outlawed in some regions.
Cheese is best sold close to the ugto space while its cheep in the ICC home systems.
Beer is best sold in the outer worlds or old pirate bases.

o you get the idea.

As for your other ideas, perhaps certain planets can be given special resources. IE, Exathra could produce heavy cheese or such.

i made a map with black market in the release version i used 3 safezone guarded planets (1 ICC 1 UGTO 1 K'luth duh!) with 6 factories (2 from each faction) and research labs (for tech level) mines for resources and of course the starport. This turned out to be AWESOME i will see if i can make a generic map with these BLACK MARKET PLANETS on it with home systems to upload on DS.com for u guys to tinker with

Although I do like the black market idear. Would be interesting to have an economics model in game. Lots of supply makes demand go down, lots of demand makes prices go up. Would also make scavenging the debris of your downed opponents a worthwhile task.

I support the idea but we need to keep in mind that we don't implement this to early.
First focus on balance and some other upgrades, and if we got time see how we can implement this Market idea inside DarkSpace whiteout deviating from the game's main purpose.
