Ya the japanese pretty much lost ww2 for three reasons. Chopsticks, sandels, and square bowls....

The history major in me forces to disagree with your interpretation, but it's definitely less of a typo than "chopsticks, sandels, and square bowls..."
Less racist, too. And that's a plus.
