And the ship still sucks.


EAD is not what it's ment to be this version, and is far from a 'good' ship either way. Having alittle more energy to go 30 seconds in a battle isnt exactly useful..

The only good use I've seen for it is to sit in the middle of a larger fleet and hurl QSTs at a stationary target. Even then, if it's attacked by enemy ships it cant fight for much longer then a minute before it's out of energy and has to run away to recharge it.

Well, you're right about one thing. Never, ever fly this ship alone. There is no PD on this thing, and judging by the skill I've seen pervading this version, not too many people can point jump a small, quick agressor, thus necessitating the use of smaller ships for PD and interception. Even a skilled pilot can't stand up to the ridiculous ED hordes.

F torps are always good. I don't use anything else. Sure, P torps track better, and sure AM torps actually do splash, but the balance of the F torp makes it the best. Especially in a ship that should be engaging at a MAXIMUM of 70 gus, good tracking is unhelpful and AM splash is downright harmul to the well being of your ship.

Flux cannons are just plain silly. As it has been said, ad nauseum, the EAD is meant for close-quarters rape-fests. You want to gank whatever is in range has hard as you can, and then run away. And by run away, I mean jump away. Sure, with this mod you can go 11 gus firing cannons. Whoop-dee-doo. That cruiser behind you is traveling 17, firing torps and cannons at a severely underdefended ass end, that turns terribly slow, and now you're dead. Also, if you're thinking about using sublight engines in a Dread that doesn't cloak to close within range on a target, please kill yourself.

What is this thing good for? Two things. One is to put bomber fighters on it, and cap the unbelievable amount of planets that just have a few infantry on them. The only other is to use it as a ganker; close jump a target, gank it, hope your support fleet can keep you alive for your JD to charge, and jump out again, repeating as your health dictates.

EAD still sucks. i never said it didn't. i just set out to lessen that suckage just maybe a tiny bit.

it also sounds like i need to fly it more often. i liek flying things that people say suck or is not good, just to try to prove them wrong.

I've been flying it a lot recently to really try and understand it.

General conclusion is

It sucks for all the reasons that have been mentioned but principally it has 2 little power for its weapons and what sane person would design an unmoanouverable ship then place 1 armour ring on the rear - even a frigate will take it out.

There are 2 uses for it.

1 - As part of a larger fleet to lob QST s into clusters and drive the planet campers out.

2. As a rapist - let someone else start a battle with an enemy ship - wait till battle is trully engaged - both ships showing some damage then jump in - slow speed - firev everything you have at minimum range at the enemy and the jump out as soon as AMJD has recharged. Hopefully you have caused enough damage for someone to finish the target off.

That said - I do have fun in it. QST s are great but that fun has cost me 4k in prestige

this is a wake up call for anyone who has the arc bug so bad on the EAD.....do NOT fly it....if you do...and you are bugged...Long Jump Out of the system...Log and get into a Battle Dread.....so people like padma wont mess with easy targets like the EAD and stuff....lol...im speaking for myself as a victim of her....Unforgiving and unmerciful attacks on arc bugged pilots -.-

pulse beams arent more efficient? I would think since they do less damage theyw ould take less energy while still hitting more projectiles

Wow this thread is still thriving somewhat, anyway, i dunno what leo meant this thread to be for but it seemed like he was trying to help people out there that like the EAD, give them advice, help newly attained FA's*cough*ZERO NOOB*cough, cough* to try and understand how to use the ships, not to tell the admins "OH LOL ROFL U DONT KNOIW HOW MAKE SHIPS LOLOLLO"(maybe im just a noob but thats what it seems like to me)

I always imagined the EAD as a ass kicking dread whos only job in life is to kick the crap outta a dread and then leave. Its in some ways a mini battlestation,needs support,bad with energy, not used alot for regular combat.

The point with the arc bug, Coeus, is that all deaths can be traced to bugs. All of them, seriously; all my deaths are from cheating and unsportsmanlike behavior.. lololol shigowned -.-
