I have an idea; not a very important one, but anyhow..

Has it ever been in the plans to include green-ish stars, and making the dwarf "white" stars actually appear white instead of being just a shrunk down yellow dwarf?

It has no actual meaning in a gameplay sense, but it would be easier to differentiate stars from one another other than by their name or size of hitbox..

I guess it would also add immersion, and capability add more color variety to the stellar panorama.

I am not sure how difficult this is to do, I have a feeling the stars are just RGB or otherwise coloured sprites, and if this is true, I would assume it's not a draconian effort to copy a star or two into new item pointers in the database and give them new colour values.

The thought occurred to me as I was tinkering around with the map editor just now.

Neutron stars would also be very nice, included with brown dwarves, but this is probably way too much asked as it currently is..

Design them yourself and submit them for testing.

I dunno if the graphics of planets and other celestrial bodies are made in this program, but other things are at least.

3DSmax 5.1

And found this...

NOTE: Currently, we do detail levels with ships using the Polychop plugin. You setup an 32 frame animation inside max, and on the last frame of the animation polychop should be set to a very low detail level. When exporting the model from max, you need to check the "Vertex Animation" checkbox, otherwise only frame 1 of your model will get exported with no detail levels.

Stars are made with a single sprite put on the x, y and z axis so it appears the same regardless of what direction you look at it from, according to Drafell..

The problem is that I am not sure where my Photoshop installation CD is, and I have barely any idea how GIMP works.

We should be able to add a pink star. I will look into it for you.

How about a shoting star? The kind that randomly run into your ship causing total chaos.

Obviously you've never opened the editor for the MV before, have you?
