Here are a couple of updated buttons for the DS forums that I threw together earlier, as the compression and image format used on the current ones looks ugly and blocky on many laptop displays.

perhaps best if all screen users say what resolution theyr on and how it looks.

looks great no distortions.

I've always found the current buttons very out-of-place; the rest of the site mostly uses dark shades and angular lines and then there are those bright circles.
I tried it out on mspaint, and I think it's an improvement. What my opinion is though, is to make them look more subtle. Maybe it's bad design to make such important buttons smaller, but that's just the way I feel.
Oh yeah, 640x480, 15inch
