it's good to see that DarkSpace is still alive. I haven't visited as much as I said I would.

I recently got a MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, nVideo GeForce 8600M GT with 256 MB RAM (independent from the System's RAM)), and played some Star Wars demos. My God it is a glorious experience. My biggest question was if there have been any successful attempts at running DS in something like VMWare? I don't want to risk things with partitioning and the such because I only have a 160 GB hard drive (and a non-functional SuperDrive that will soon be replaced once I get back from vacation next Saturday), so BootCamp is not an option.

Long time no see nubbin.

And also unfortunately, DS as far as I know, does not run on any other OS other than Windows, though I know some have had luck getting into GCQL.

Thus I say, EWWW MACS EWWW.

Windows Emulators don't support the libraries we use, so it's 9x/NT only.

This should also not be in Developer Updates. Players shouldn't even be allowed to make threads here (and it used to be like that, I guess something to changed accidentally).

Lol. I was converted to actually wanting one and liking them after first using a friend's iMac, and then the awesome new Mac Pro.

Parallels Desktop for Mac is a new application that allows you to install Windows into a virtual machine, and that virtual machine has it's own virtual hard drive, and runs a real copy of Windows, not an emulator like WINE. The same thing applies to VMWare's new product VMWare Fusion.

Worst comes to worst, I have to run out somewhere and drop $100 on a fancy FireWire 800 HD enclosure and also buy a copy of Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMWare Fusion.

Any other ideas?

Run Paralells! Get an Intel based Mac. DS also runs okay on Linux via wine. You can run wine on the Mac too OSX+.

For the mac?
Only thing i know that might do the trick would be VM-ware Fusion.
Recently released, i have not had the time to test DS on it, and im currently on vacation from work.
However i do know that co-workers found that VM-ware lives up to its marketing, a lot of USB devices that are windows only, do work on a mac with Fusion.

Instead of all that, you could just use Copper...
