When I was in middle school, I used to watch ST Voyager and DS9. I thought they were so cool and couldn't wait to see more all the time. Not long ago, Voyager came back on TV in re-runs and I have to say, I am disappointed. The show just wasnt as good as I remember it. The acting was a bit over-dramatic, the lines were predictable, their solutions to problems came a bit too easy.... the list goes on.

Same thing with ST: NTG. We watch it now and everyone has '80s hair and their costumes look rediculus. Characters change from episode to episode. In one episode someone will be mature and the voice of reason, only to make obvious and over-dramatic social mistakes in the next episode.

So, tell me. Anyone know why old shows dont seem to age well? Is it the evolving culture that changes our tastes or something?

A similar thing has happened to re-runs of The X-Files. That show was THE show in its day. Everyone watched that. Now, I see re-runs of it and it is horrible. It is slow, simple, dark, and it never explains much of anything about the crazy stuff happening.

I say again, sup wit dat? Anyone else noticed this with their own shows?

Egads... someone who also watched Space 1999....

I still have a model of the ship they use to get around in! It even had the detachable Command Module!

I also got one for you... Project: Bluebook... look it up.. was a show dedicated to the Air Force operation of the same name...

The only scifi show I ever cared for was Stargate.

But even the older episodes of SG:1 are getting a bit eh'ish. I still love Stargate though. Then theres Atlantis. Gotta love Atlantis.

Hey, wait a minute. When did GT get back and why didn't I get the memo?!

Welcome back buddy.

Also, I like StarGate as well. Saw the finale just last night. Very nice. Azgard, Ori, Time manipulation, long-term character development, an odd sense of coziness, space battles. All the good stuff. I imagine Atlantis will pull several more years but is unlikely to last as long or longer than SG1. Too bad, too, because McCay is probably my favorite StarGate character ever. Let's face it. It is his show and the others just happen to work near him.

Speaking of Atlantis, anyone know what the behind-the-scenes deal is with the doctor guy being suddenly written off a couple weeks back? Seems an odd thing to do so suddenly. Did he get a different job offer, a lethal disease or not get along with others of the cast? Someone fill me in on that one.

Getting old?

Yay for the moon traveling untold speeds towards the only other known habitable planet in the galaxy just because of a single explosion!

I've never watched Star Trek, or anything realy sci-fi for that matter.. I've seen the Star Wars movies..

I get laid, and stuff. I dont have to watch the half-naked klingon or what ever... Lawlzornerds!

Alright, so, I'm in a Sci-Fi MMO forums, shove off.
