I have no idea if any of you own StarLancer at all, but I can only hope. The other day I purchased Starlancer, and because I had other worries on my mind I thought it was Freelancer. Once I got home I realized I messed up but thought okay of it since I found the demo of the game that I played some time ago relatively fun. Ok heres my problem:

I am at mission 13 and am unable to progress further. Its not the mission itself...unless its a coding issue or something. I can get no further than reaching the beam zapping station. The game simply crash with no warning.

I'm running it on windows XP. I've read about issues between Starlancer and XP...and about the existence of a fix by Microsoft...but I do not know where to find it.

I doubt its the computer itself...my computer exceeds all requirements. At the time I had the demo....I ran it on a eMachine 433Mhz with Win98...and it ran fine.

BUT! Is this an option: Having a 2nd OS on my computer. How might I do this? My computer shouldnt have any difficulty handling it.

No game is worth going through all that trouble.

I am assuming you deleted it and re-installed.

and of course you googled the issue to see if anyone else is having it, maybe there is a fix there.

There is a fix....not a guaranteed one since its a hit n miss fix. But the prob is knowing the PRECISE way to ask the question to get what I want. Otherwise I could spend too much time sifting through literally countless results. If anyone else here has encountered this problem and a way around it, please let me know. In the meantime I will keep searching. If cannot get one....well there went 10 bucks.

Thats the first time I've not seen a helpful comment from jack.
I've used that link that doran posted, so far nothing has come of it. But it did lead me to a free/star lancer site with its own integral forums. Maybe someone there has come across the same problem.

There's a forum, like he said. I was just wondering why on Earth this was posted in a different games forum...
