ok this was the results of a HUGE argument between me, jack, and Enterprise over the loss of a fully modded Dreadnought.

this pic is the before picture, my actual prestige.

and this is the after picture, after i rammed it into a star

the results:

595 - 822 prestige, you get 227 prestige loss from 27822 to 27595.

I told you before - it's based on rank, and also how much FF you do to people around you (which if you're flying a dread, and are near several people, can be quite substantial).

Explain how I lost 600 prestige when I waltzed into a planet then?

Other people have also lost 500~ when hitting a planet with a BD.

Leo also didn't lose 273. Something suggests to me that there's another factor, that we're possibly overlooking.

It can't just be randomly double for some people, or varying around low/high.

Those results were using stock ships upgraded to all lvl 10 devices.

I have also tested using the most expensive upgrades possible for the BD.

Results as follows:

Rank: Grand Admiral (92794.8 pres)
Battle Dread: 375.8 prestige lost.

This test was done using AME tech for drives, AMJ for jumpdrive, mining beams for special, flux cannons for primary weapons, it missiles for secondary weapons, and reflective armor for armor. I did not have PFE' drives available during the testing, but those would not account for more than another 10-20 prestige in value. This is also probably the most ineffective Battledread configuration. A standard combat configuring of particle/psi cannons and torpedoes will cost no more than 273 prestige on death due to resources lost, as not all of the cannon will be upgraded past level 6 or 7.

Conclusion:

It is not possible for for a battle dread pilot to lose more than 400 prestige on death due to resources lost. Any additional loss would have to be attributable to friendly fire or kamikaze. Why your figures are different, I have no idea, as within the current game rules it is not possible to lose that much in a BD.

Summon the F-man to clear this whole thing up. Mr Black might know, too.

Looks like I might be wrong.

I'll do some more tests later on in the week.

star deathes could cost you more prestige lost. I mean, it's pretty damn hard to hit a star, not so much a planet.

carrying both a WH and a HMA increases prestige lost, a lot.

Well Planet Smacking, and SDing cost you more pres I know. A while back I went Kluth for a week, and I only flew the Siphon. I lost 6 of em and roughly 3200 prestige over the week. NO WAY to know who, how, and what I lost or why as I got several kills, Hit a planet or two, got owned by Planet Defense, FFed anyone foolish enuff to get between me and my Target, and If I am not mistaken I also managed to Incenerate myself along with some newbies Dessie with the SI once. I also went ICC for about 3 days....lost 3 ADs (ICed myself once there too ) The Whole adventure cost me maybe 4k in Pres give or take, but was well worth it as I had a Blast. I've since made up the 4k pres and another 25k on top of that.

Granted I'm kinda loose on my numbers, but I don't really watch Pres Gain/Loss all that much. I watched EVERY Prestige point up to Admiral, and after that I stopped paying it all that much attention...went from Admiral to Fleet Admiral in FAR less time than it took me to make Admiral. That's why I always say the fastest way to Gain prestige is to: IGNORE PRESTIGE.

PS: Losing 2 Battle Stations in 30 minutes will cost you about 1700....give or take.

leme bust out my findings

resource loss due to self distruction

These are empty shops meaning no items onboard
icc supply station 55000
Carrier Dread 20000
Agncourt 20000
Ganglia 20000
Dictor 5000
Bomber Cruiser 5000 (notice a trend? )
Assult destroyer 1000
shell 1000
bomber frigate 500
bomber corvet 100
hsup 1000
ultimate worker 1000
heavy tranny 200
adv carrier 200
drone engineer 200

here are the extra resource loss while having items onboard
lvl- type- resource loss- price-
10 std armour 440 44000
0 tachon drive 120 12000

So basically resource loss is your base press loss (the ship) and the credit cost of your items onboard divided by 100

...Can't you just calculate your resources lost value by subtracting your available credits by your total credits?

And then, since pres loss from death is calculated from resources lost, just multiply your lost resources by the appropriate number to get your pres loss?

I really cant believe it cant be higher than 370 ish Draf, there are too many times I've lost a dread and saw my numbers go down 500-700. Never that low.

Theres another factor, somwhere. It cant be FF, otherwise mine would be much, much higher (you only lose one prestige per point here folks..)
