Heres the story,

I went a bought a new hard drive and put it in the computer. It would not read my Windows XP Home Edition CD as a valid windows CD. Then I tried with a Windows 2000 Cd which then it asked for me to put the CD in the A: drive. My computer doesn't have a floppy drive so I wouldn't know why it would bring it up. I bypassed the valid windows cd question with the windows 2000 Cd then I began installing Windows XP. IT TOOK FOREVER. Say I started from that morning around 7 AM and it finished that afternoon arond 6 PM. It did not ask me to setup any user account sor anything and just began the computer once it was done. The computer runs extremely slow and when you right click the desktop and click prop. There is only the Moified Theme I want. Anyone have any suggestions/solutions?

if you got a Serial ATA disk, *SATA* you might have to use the drivers for the SATA port before your windows will recognize the disk fully.
although this is very rare to happen.

1 bit of bad luck though is that the windows setup only accepts Floppy's for when you want to install other drivers... and the drivers are on your Motherboard CD :S

took me 1 day to get everything to work.

quick bypass could be to get another windows cd but one that already has SP2 installed on it. you cdkey will work just the same

Sounds like you installed your new HDD wrong. Check it's set to SLAVE the old one, and not MASTER.

we'd be able to provide a bit more suggestions and support with more information, can you post your PC and SYSTEM information.

CPU - Model, Manufacturer and speed
RAM - Model, Manufacturer and type
HDD - Manufacturer, size, buffer size, as well as type
MOBO- Model, Manufacturer and type

all of these could be dependant, saying my HDD dunn work and your steps to trouble shoot help. but maybe if we know the type of hardware you are running could assist in our trouble shooting advice. There are a lot of talented gamers in this ccommunity, that have seen a lot of hardware issues and learned how to over come them. Those 4 bits of info posted above. Will most likely assist us in isolating and providing a fix
