Try formatting his HD using that IP.

Was it really that hard to read the other people's reply?

He was joking, IE

If he tried to format that IP, he'd end up formatting himself.

I'm afraid that's next to simply impossible.

First let us break this down.

The image is generated offsite by a script that grabs your IP address and displays it to you. It's not a static picture, meaning it changes for everyone that looks at it.

Software that does this is quite simple to make and with a good many servers supporting scripting languages like ASP and PHP, the ease of making and deploying software such as this is pretty easy. Draf can do it, Jack could probably hack one together and I have made one before in php.

Second even if he did display his IP it would be very difficult to actually hack him. Hacking is N O T H I N G like you have seen in any movie, heard about from your neighbor or probably anything else you can imagine. It might require only a slight bit, or may take months to pull off an actual hack.

Third, it's actually your Internet Browser and possibly even your computer that actually leaks information to the site running the image. A misconfigured web browser will bleed all kinds of information(OS Version, Browser name, browser version, screen size/resolution and a whole lot more). A simple cookie tracking script on a website will give the owners tons of information about each visitor and an advanced one will give you even more.

Toodles,
kenetiks
