Hi, just a quickie really about dread access for each factions. I noticed that the UGTO have the command dread at admiral level, but the K'luth have the brood but requires fleet admiral.
I understand that the command dread and brood both serve the same purpose as a multi function dread with an extra ability to build. Is there a reason for the brood to be at fleet admiral and not admiral the same as the command dread?
I am merely asking out of curiousity.

Cheers,

The brood is heavily armed compared to the command dread and command carrier. Unlike the other two, you can actually engage in decent combat in a brood. A well played brood can essentially do all assault tasks: attack, bomb, build.

i can't give you the real reason. but i can think of some.
faction diferences. a k'luth warrior may be recuired to have a personal status to be accepted for Fleet admiral and command the dread. while instaid a UGTO admiral just needs to gain the rank.
just think if all factions have had the same ship types. than why have factions at all.
If the brood and the command dreads both recuire the same clearance and both preform the same function. wouldn't that bore the game ?

These big diferences are somwhat the foundation of why people choose a specific side. not becous the just like the way the ships look or just becous the faction is rules from earth or some independance alliance or alien of origin.

So i welcome you to DarkSpace.

Traditionally, all K'Luth build-capable ships are one rank higher than the other faction equivalents, except for stations, of course.

The Ganglia is the equivilant to the other faction's command dreads.

The Brood is simply an upgraded version, hence it requires a higher rank to pilot.

I'm very surprised you had to ask this question... What exact role did you think the Ganglia was filling...?

Well by golly Jack, it would appear that he didn't know the Ganglia's niche either. Also, he specifically stated the build device as one of the factors that denoted, to him, a Command Dread. Don't need to condescend upon everyone you meet.
