I say make core weapons buildable.

Not to be placed on an actual ship, or on a planet, but on a platform.

Weapons that are supposed to be this powerful dont seem like they'd fit on ships, due to the energy and power it'd have to use up. So, stick them on a cannon-like platform, which is ment specificaly to fire those weapons.

They wont be fired rapidly at an enemy, but more like the Nuclear Launchers the chinese have in C&C Generals. They take a good bit of time to reload compared to everything else, which is as they should be.

I can see how they could be fit for stations, but I think they aught to do a rather big drain on their energy..
