The UGTO High Council has finally been able to solidify rumors and of alien crossbreeding. Gaifens have been well documented as a species of organic creatures, which thrive in space. They are very weak but vicious creatures. The best recon photo ever obtained of these creatures is shown below: 
Another species, of which we know almost nothing about, is known only as Energy Entities. These too are weak but vicious, however they lack any physical form. They are destroyed by substantial energy discharges from torpedoes and energy beams, which destroy the delicate energy matrices that maintain their gathered form.
This, recently obtained image from the combat front lines, shows what appears to be a crossbreed between the two species:
Our scientists are theorizing with great fervor to formulate possible explanations for these creatures. Some of the possibilities include:
1) They are the same creature at different stages of development. This possibility is being argued both ways.
--------- a) The Energy Entity gathers from solar radiation and over a long lifespan collects matter until it forms a Gaifen.
--------- b) The Gaifens are so long lived that some of them achieve ‘enlightenment’ and ascend to a higher state of existence, known as an Energy Entity.
2) The Energy Entities mimic things they encounter and contorted their matrices to mimic the form of a Gaifen.
Without more evidence and analysis of live specimens of all three entities no conclusions can be drawn. The scientific community is in an uproar over the military’s immediate destruction of these creatures, without any being captured for study. It could be hundreds of years, if ever, that we encounter these creatures again, and at that time we may not have the ships on hand to be able to contain the creatures. The military leader in charge of the fleet, which destroyed all three of these species on sight, was Grand Admiral Kanman. He had this to say in response to the scientific community: “Having just been surrounded by a fleet or Mir, the fleet was in bad shape and couldn’t risk any of these creatures becoming hostile. Lives could have been lost and a judgment call was made. To be my ships and crews home safely, you bet I would do it again.” This has lead to the scientific community demanding that UGTO ships be assigned a new crewman post to the bridge, called the Scientific Advisor, to prevent the destruction of future opportunities at the hands of the “over-zealous” military officers.
