Is it possible to have a different color for each faction on the maps? It would make it much easier when looking at them in F2 or before choosing a spaw point so you could decide which faction you were going to be attacking this time round.
I'm pretty sure the code for this wouldn be very hard to make or change as the coloring is already in use.

You can always check the MV map before you moin the MV from DS webpage. It will give you a good summary of who owns what.

Yeah Smartin, but whos going alt-tab every 5 minutes to go to the DS website and click on every system map to see who owns what.
Personally, I think that a color code for planets (and ships!) would make it easier to distinguish who owns what and who is who, rather than having to click anything.

I like the idea, but it would probably cause lag (lol) if it was updated too frequently. Finding data on a set object from a list and sending it to one person is less computer intenstive then updating the list to every one all the time.
I think.
anyway, I do like the idea, and it would be helpful. White, Blue, Red maps!

Game Client looks at the planet. Its faction ID says its UGTO: "Oh, this planet says its ugto, lets make the sprite/icon white." The client then notices that ICC is now in charge of the planet: "welp, now its ICC, lets change it to blue"... ect..
Same concept for ships. Client looks at its faction ID, then assigns the appropriate colour.

theirs a hellofa lot more planets then ships.
not to mention, faction id for ships are static while in game, while planets faction id are dynamic (they can change factions at a whim, while ships cannot without logging out first)
I still say it's not going to be implemented because of the cpu time needed for it (lol lag, lol cpu, lol etc)

Planets + Stars:
As they change faction now, we either see them as green or red. which means instead of having 2 options for the client (make it red or green), there is the 3(make it red/white/blue and remove the green as there will be no need for it) Nothing server side would need to be added.. Such a little addition to the client code such as this, would not add alot more stress for it.
Ships:
See planets. Because all the client needs to do it look for the faction ID of the ship it does already anyway with the colours.. (at least, lets hope it does... dun dun dun)
