Looks like Intel is back to kicking ass, like they used to before the atrocity known as the P4.

Duo and Conroe are next gen processors. AMD havn't even released their plans for theirs yet.

It's like putting an FX-60 up against a Pentium 4.

And no one even knows the price yet, so my bet is AMD will still knock the pants off Intel price-wise. But we'll have to wait and see what AMD have been cooking up. Roumer has it that it's a quad core chip, most games now have to be designed to allow their threads to be divided up between the cores, but AMD have designed a special third chip that will do it for you. So developers don't need to special code their games to take advantage of it. Either way, the next 3-4 months will be interesting (what with Nvidia's G80 and ATI's R600 to be anounced).

Umm...the processors are coming out in a few days.

Second, the prices are announced. Maybe you should do some research. Their budget processor beat out the FX-62.

And this was tested against AMD's AM2 socket processors, which, I believe are new.

Next-gen vs. current gen? You love doing this with ATI vs. NVidia.

But yes, these next few months will be interesting, now that the processor wars are no longer painfully one-sided.

AM2 is simply AMD's 939 socket with support for DDR2, it is not their new chipset.

AMD are still keeping quiet about their chip, but it's supposidly 4 cores, and it should be a very exciting time, especially now we've got ATI's dual core'd R600 and supposed 8 core monster coming soon, all using unified shaders, and the G80 is being kept unusually quiet, so we have yet to see what new technologies they throw at us.

Be interesting to see what combinination wins the war come Vista, since AMD are buying out ATI now too.

Thank you teal, for reminding people they don't have 2349829482934892$ to spend on new computers.

I love how people talk about "ROFL NEXT GEN >:D" when it costs a weeks salary to get such a thing....

1) Admins don't need prestige, they can spawn whatever ship they want from the home gate.

2) I'm not rich, I just get review hardware.

3) I broke up with my girlfriend about 2-3 weks ago.

Get with the times!

So I guess now is a bad time to mention that I have 10 different computers including 3 laptops?

That my slowest desktop is a P4-2.53ghz 2gb of ram system?

And that I'm single as well, though usually go out with 2 or 3 different girls a week? Sometimes two in the same day?

So why do I need to boost my pres... I could care less about it. lol Besides, look at my actual play account, i have boosted it either.
