Recently, I've been noticing a trend in Sabotage. It's become more frequent in the past month, with five instances that I know of. The players who do this only care about their prestige, and will get it anyway they can, be it fighting fairly, or be it switching to a faction, turning off the necissary things to keep a planet from defending itself, and the go back and bomb it. Just five hours ago, the planets in Epsilion Ind, CD, Tau Ceti, and three in Xi Bootis where running fine, not a thing wrong with them. I log back in four hours later, and over twenty planets have their food turned off, power turned off, domes, defences, sensor bases, and domes turned off. There where also multiple planets that where scrapped of necissary items, which I went in and rebuilt. There are logical explinations to this, sure. Plague, Bombings, yes, I've thought about that. But over twenty planets in four hours, in multiple systems? I dont think so. Now, this isnt just happening to ICC.. I've noticed it as UGTO, where shields where scrapped of the UGTO's key planets and then bombed, and I've noticed shields on K'luth planets, along with UGTO and ICC factories captured by the K'luth being scrapped. Sabotaging is becoming a growing problem here in darkspace, and needs to have something done about it.

yer not alone crimson, remember our little friend eWarHawk, BoC, and several others? hmm well lets just say he's back and under a different name or 50, i've noticed a growing trend in newbies in DS as well, but im not entirely convinced they're n00bs, not accusing but i have a feeling its someone in UGTO or Fleetless, and we already know of 1 saboteur thats confessed but i think theirs more than one

CEC have started to lock key planets because of this, so it's not someone on UGTO.

This isn't a new thing, simply a revival of the old sabotage principal. Sabotage used to be very very common but gradually as people got madder and madder the sabotears stopped (I for one never scrap sabotaged, though I did engage in what I still consider a fair tactic, scortched earth pausing). Then when the new patch was released Mirving became so common sabotears didn't have a job, now that people are complaining and mirvs are becoming less common sabotears are back in buisness...

We lock standard planets. Like, SY ones and defence planets that don't need tinkering with. Mostly those in clusters though.

Think i had one in sirius yesterday, just finished rebuilding the whole system, when guy claimed to be a newb turns up and promptly scraps two important sy. i rebuilt one, then logged due to server shutdaown, only to come back later to find the sy gone again. Would encourage locking at FA or above for important planets. If mods want his name then drop me a line.

Well, I'd just like the staff help figure something out, since it happens often when there is no one on, or new players mining. I'd also like for players to be more alert towards this.

Suggestion:

Perhaps a "No changing planets in x ammount of minutes after switching sides" rule.

Ah but Coeus, by requiring it to be a three digit number you eleminate a large number of the people who build the planets (Kidding, kidding!)

And probably the best way to do it would be to have a rule where, unless your in an engi orbitting the planet, there's a time limit on your scrapping...x buildings per x minutes

Another possibility would be to broudcast the scrapping to everyone on that team, in conjunction with the time limit this could cause the scrapper to be only able to scrap one or two things before being stopped.
