As some of you may know, I have become a developer for Palestar, and as such, we have decided to make the following changes to DarkSpace. We hope you'll like them.

  • All systems outside of the home ones are being removed. This is to ease load on the server and to make the game more fast paced, and also reduce bombing.
  • We're removing beam weapons so that the server does not need to triangulate the weapon start and end point. This should free up some resources on the server for more calculations made during battle.
  • We're increasing damage done by core weapons by 5000%. This should result in faster killing and more deaths. Put simply, less people alive, the less the server has to deal with - less lag.
  • All ships are being locked to Grand Admiral except the long-range scouts of each faction.
  • All long-range scouts of each faction are getting a core weapon.
  • All ships except the long range scouts are being replaced by pixies with wands. This is an attempt to open up DarkSpace to a wider audiance.
  • When a player kills more than two pixies in a gaming session, they get given a special weapon called the "Pixie Milker 2000". This drains all pixies of their precious pixie juices in the area, and transfers them to your ship, which you can then sell to a starport.
  • The max speed of all ships is being changed to 2 gu/s.
  • Jump speed is being reduced to 2.1 gu/s.
  • Crews are being added to all ships and pixies. This is to add a sense of realism to DarkSpace.
  • Crews are prone to going on toilet breaks, therefor meaning your ship could explode at any random point in time.
  • To fix lag, we've removed the latency variable on the debug mode and removed the ping section from the GCQL window.
  • Added a the new rank "Peon".
  • Ramped up MiRV damage by 10000%. This will remove structures quicker, and therefor free up server resources.
  • Added a new weapon "Fluffy - Destroyer of planets". This weapon, when activated, kills the ship that activated it, and all players on the server and the target planet.
  • Adding mounts to game in the form of "My little ponies". To be able to access this content, you need to have a prestige of negative 50,000.
  • All players who die will be banned perminantly from the game.
  • Any and all weapon inpacts to a ships hull, make said ship turn pink.
  • To remove any disadvantage to colour blind players, DarkSpace will now only run in black and white.
  • DarkSpace is no longer set in space, and shall now be known as DarkFairyland
