It looks like a mis-shaped UGTO dread (take a look at the base UGTO dread hull, and you'll notice some 'pipe' like things (but they're a lot thicker and closer to the hull on the palestar ones).

In my opinion, you should try and work those 'flutes' a bit closer to the UGTO dread model.

I like it though appart from the flutes, very UGTO destroyer like!

Originally, I designed the ship for fun, and it resembled the Protoss Carrier [Starcraft].
Later, I added these ridiculously large external-mounted, uncased cannons, and the flutes 'held' them.'
Now, though, I guess the only reason for them is 'looking cool'
.3ds is the right format, right?

off the wall idea, probably not a workable one..

Make it so players can make their own skins, client side only. Like you can do in Quake.

I know others would not see it, unless they have the skin also. But would satisfy one wanting to have their own look to a ship, and allow them to name a ship by puting it on the skin.

I'd say its a command dread.

Not totally sure if anyone still cares but..
I removed the 4 lower 'flutes', and made the top one larger/combined the two sides, made curving wing things..
Fattened the bulge in the middle too.

Thats looking a lot better. Much more UGTO in feel. I would still say that is either Cruiser or Destroyer class model.

If you look on the UGTO cruisers you can see "weapon" pods mounted on various sections. Maybe a couple of those in similar places would finish the model nicely - and the engine section, of course.

.3ds would be the correct format for export. that would enable a dev to import and check the model in 3ds and enable it to be exported for the Resourcer.

Something that could be worked on by the community: a group of pre-modelled objects like weapon pods, pylons etc, available for downloading and integrating into custom models to help keep them on "theme".

Hmm... Aurora, your model is very nice, and looks like a dread to me... although it doesn't seem to fit in too well with the current UGTO fleet. Looks like some really advanced, crazy next-generation ship to me, like the other model I saw a few months back that was totally awesome (Draf's?)

Yeah that was the Dread I designed and Drafell was modeling. Which I don't know if he ever finished...

Original Drawing by me:

Nearly finished modelling a drive module for an ICC Destroyer. This is the current versionm in blender - it needs a few tweaks, but I'll export it once finished for anyone interested in using it.

In reference to the GhostKnife, I had nearly completed the model and texturing when I accidentally formatted the harddisk that the data was stored on. I thought I had saved all the info elsewhere, but I was wrong

Ok, heres the finished Destroyer drive section:

This is a zipped Blender(.blend) file of the model. Hopefully you should be able to load it with all the textures showing:
