For now I am happy with my dual processor P4-3.4ghz system with the ATI x850 card... Of course like always, a month after I got it the new crossfire cards came out but i wasnt ready to switch mobo's yet... Not after some of the other issues I ran into recently...
So for now I will live with the lowly x850 AGP card. Later when I switch mobo's I will get one with the dual PCI Express so I can get a crossfire setup.
I am happy with my sata 16mb buffer 400gb drive though.
I never leave it on the desktop log enough to care what the background is so just leave it the default settings.

My 3.2 pentium D with 4 gig ram dual 250 gig hd 256mg nividia 6800 hooked to my 57in bigscreen tv and full surround sound in my living room works for me. Is the crossfire honestly worth the money to get 100+ frame-rate??? Ill pass on the crossfire until I come across anything that bogs this system down.
O and Ive been playing with a water-cooling system and overclocking this thing to 4-5 gigherts...

Errr
Crossfire is like 200+ framerate on 1284x1024 and full settings...
Crossfire's there for the 1600x1200 junkies with 36x anastropic filtering and 32x SFAA.
Games look nice on it. Plus the X1800 series has AVIO, so you can watch video's and the like on a monitor with near perfect quality (depending on the video ofcourse).
It's a nice setup, and the X1*00 range is well worth the cash

Curse you Jack and your ATI cards! I'm stuck with a 7800 GTX (Which in all honesty isn't that bad... It's just not the BEST). Although I do have a dual core Athalon 64. Yummm... Athalon 64 DC.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+... I must say, it's very nice. I can get it to 2.6 very easily (and quite cool at that). Very stable... I'd definitely recommend it.

Yeh, AMD deffinatly got their act into gear this generation, looks like they're going to be hard to knock off the throne if Intel don't get their heads into gear.
Quite simply, raw clock speed isn't the way to go anymore. Both Nvidia and ATI (although ATI have been using this architecture for a lot, lot longer) use the same architecture as AMD, and you probably will of noticed GPU speeds increase by quite a large margin in the past year alone...
