Perhaps I could have been clearer. When I mentioned newbies getting killed because there were less players in the game, I was mainly refering to the lack of high-ranking and mid-ranking ICC to at least partly protect the newer players untill they can get a grasp of what goes on.

Now, I would be the first to admit that newbies get killed alot in the MV, but when I wrote that I was speaking from my own experiances, moving from the newbie server at commander rank (as I would advise all new players to do, you have a better chance of surviving).

I suppose what was making me most upset was the fact that there were commanders and captains (and maybe a few higher-rank players) sending escort dessies and a few cruisers up against well-organised stations, dreads, and cruisers (with well crewed support ships such as dictors, hvy supply, and hvy transports). Now, I admit that most of the problem was new-to-the-MV players (or at least almost new), trying to go solo or in 2's or so, but that is why I was wishing for more higher rank players to guide the newer ones, thereby strengthing the ICC with better trained players.

I don't know.......it just seemed so.........futile and pointless.

Which brings up another point. Planets.

Planets are nice round balls that have little diamonds on them. The purpose of these diamonds is to provide a organised way to build on planets........I think. But nvr mind.

Problems with planets. Think about this....a poor newbie decides to build planets to earn pres. He/she goes into some system, say at or a few systems behind the front. She/he then builds a nice round ball up into what should be a deathtrap to ships attacking it......say 15 def and squadron bases, 150% shields.....you get the idea. Or builds a shipyard planet behind the protection of defense planets (say on the inner planet of a system, or on a planet orbited by moons with def on them). Now this newbie then is rightly proud of his lovely planet, which he slaved over, carefully building new and tearing down old for 1-2 hrs. NOW........The next evening, when the newbie logs on.... someone has come through and destroyed his planet, either capturing it, destroying it, or destroying and then rebuilding it. Now, I uppose this is normal atm, but in what universe do systems change hands each day of the week??? Well, I guess in the MV, for one.

My main problem with this is the fact that Someone can spend 2 hrs building a planet only to helplessly watch his/her hard work wiped away in a matter of minutes by a bomber dessy protected by multiple escorts...or even working alone, when players are unable to intercept it........

If planets would last a little longer against bombs, or bombs were a little less damaging, then people would be able to come defend the planet and drive off the bomber....unless he had good escort.

The main roblem is the ratio between "ammount of time it takes to destroy" (ATTD), and "ammount of time it takes to build" (ATTB). You like my acronyms?

If this ratio is 10-20 min/60-120 min (ATTD/(ATTB), I think that it takes the fun out of building.

You could remove building alltogether, have the planets build themselves in a set ammount of time, designed to a selected template (i.e. Mod, SY, Def. Depot)............but then that would waste all the hard work by the code writers.

You could make bombs so weak that it took 2-3 dessies or say 4-5 bomber frigs to take out a planet, dependent on the ammount of def said planet had, of course.

These solutions, however, would be over doing it.

Somewhere in there is a happy medium where planets and bombs fit together perfectly. Either no one has been able to come up with one yet, or someone who has or thinks he has dosen't want to speak up.

I, for one, am thinking about it right now.....but as I have no idea how to write code, nor how hard it is (for that matter, I'm not even sure I would know what code was if I was looking at it).........they might seem a little nuts to those of you who DO understand it.

I also realise that I have very little experiance in the game as compared to older players, but......this is what I think.......feel free to correct me on any incorrect points made

the combat problem just aint true. I spend 2 weeks flying in assault corvettes and interceptor frigates. The only problem with them is that its HARD to learn to fly them.
Ask Drafell about me first flying interceptor frigates:p Man i still hate them, but ill learn it!

The Mark has a better grasp on how bombing should be, and how it should work, and how building should work, on his second day than some people who have been here 2-3 years.

I just read that, and I realize, there are really alot of stupid people in this game...

smaller ships are horribly underestimated, and always have been. anyone remember Admiral Jimmy? combat dessie of doom right there. UGTO interceptor frigates are nasty, nasty little things =P theyre like the old torp modded minelayer dessies, but with an extra cannon and better coverage. and its a FRIGATE... 0.o its a good little ship. im trying to find a frigate on ICC thats similarily lethal =P

Off topic I know but I agree that The Mark has valid points....
