To Group... or not to Group? That is the Question! |

For those of you whom are old enough to remember the good ol' days of Darkspace I propose this question to you; do you think we should bring back grouping?
I believe that grouping was great for anyone and everyone who wanted help in gaining prestige and it also instilled a sense of fleet-like gameplay where the higher rankings gave out orders and the lower ones followed such orders and everyone got along and shared from the experience.
Personally, I think it would really help out many people (newer DS players) if there was grouping again. With the recent Lag problem in the MV and the prestige gain changes I've lost more prestige then i've been able to gain in just one hour of gameplay. It's not only me, but there's many others out there for whom i know this has happened to. I know how frustrating it is to repair a Station for 60 minutes and get only 15 prestige points, while there after being destroyed and losing 300 points in prestige and being that much closer to being demoted.
My whole point to this topic is that I move that Grouping be brought back into the normal gameplay for a number of reasons:
1. Prestige gain/loss will be dependant on the group you are in and what your actions are. Idle players shouldn't be allowed to gain prestige based on what the rest of the group is doing. You must do something to support the Group.
2. Groups will have a stronger devotion to actually accomplishing something in the game to gain such prestige that is deserving of their actions.
3. Grouping would instill a new role for players to play in the MV, to learn to act as a team instead of individuals in a MMORPG. Lower ranking players would learn from the actions of higher ranking players and gain a sense of Strategic Balance.
4. I just think it would make for an all out great time 
If there is anyone out there who has something to add to this list or has something they feel would/wouldn't work if grouping was brought back please feel free to add to this.

not till the pres loss is fixed, I dont want to hear all the crying we would have from people lossing loads of pres because others die

i agree, pres lost among the group would be horrible.....but would prob keep it even compared that everyone would be grouping and defending each other better....i think it would work...

heh I remeber the days of grouping was alot of fun but yeah even then i remeber some FA's turning down group invites cos they liked to station bomb (A fun tactic back then ) and didnt want to cause everyone else a painfull pres loss.
I think it would be good to bring back was alot of fun to group and if i remeber right it made supplying much easier (since the groups ships status was on screen the whole time you could see who was in trouble) of course it will have to wait till pres gain / loss is balanced out right

Agreed, fix the pres gain/loss, then lets see how it fairs when grouping is automatically enabled for fleets & decide from there.
First things first though, prestige...

Pres loss is set to be fixed (or at least changed) this Friday, as has been mentioned/posted at least twice to my knowledge.
Grouping has also, for many moons, been on the table to return. You don't have to petition for it - its already on its way.
In other words: Everything in this thread is already being worked on and coming soon. Be like a doctor and have some patience.
