Today we bring you news of unrest in the far corners of the galaxy, in recently conquered UGTO territories.

The recent UGTO offensive has brought an unprecedented number of planets under its control. Pushing against the weakened forces of the rebelling planets of the Confederation, the UGTO was able to persuade a number of their planets to reintegrate into the Organization. While some forceful negotiations and retaliatory strikes were required, generally the planets were eager to return to civilization and order. Likewise, planets decimated by the scourge calling themselves the K'Luth have been released from their tyranny.

However, we've recently received news from some of the systems closest to the enemy's influence, and it seems some planets are causing a stir. The UGTO offensive has racked up enormous costs for the Navy, and its financing is coming mainly in the form of taxes on conquered and liberated planets. Pushed by the powerful Sol lobby, the UGTO has imposed punitive tax rates on the far systems. This has apparently led to a lot of discontent, and murmurs of rebellion in places.

The UGTO Navy has been dispatched to particularly sensitive parts, but being already stretched thin by the far-ranging offensive, it may be too weak to effectively respond.

Further news is forthcoming.

Reports from all over the galaxy have corroborated the earlier news of discontent with UGTO rule. Widespread rebellions across deep UGTO holdings, including Lacaille, Procyon, Epsilion Caranie Aa, and Kapteyn's Star have all made their way across the communication networks.

The news of impending revolts came as somewhat of a shock to UGTO forces present in the systems at the time. Approximately 45 planets made a joint announcement of their discontent, which triggered an UGTO declaration of Political Unrest. A number of commanders of the fleet were shocked and alarmed.

First Rear Admiral Blackflash400 was concerned, noting the number of planets complaining at once, as such coordination is usually absent in galactic affairs. Admiral WinterRose, also present at the time the announcements flooded the communcations net, was shocked. "I wonder if this is some sort of event," she was quoted as wondering over fleet-wide communications, expressing the same confusion as others for the motivation of the announcement. First Rear Admiral Tikki recommended the fleet continue its current operations until further orders were received to intervene, expressing cautious optimism. "Just carry on. ... Some will stabilize, some won't."

Further updates as they arrive.

A mere 25 minutes after the announcement of unhappiness with UGTO rule, the Lacaille system has revolted to K'Luth control, complete with the forced removal of all representatives of the UGTO.

So far, the planets Alone, M7827, Cydex, Violet, and Lopez have "thrown off the yoke of UGTO oppression," as an anonymous ICC sympathizer phrased it. However, this saga does not yet seem to be over. The rebellion could still spread further.

In another stunning loss to UGTO forces, Procyon and Kapteyn's Star have firmly declared their independance from the forces of Sol, revolting to join the K'Luth Empire and Interstellar Cultural Confederation, respectively. Local celebrations broke out on many planets, though leaders of the planets are urging caution. The UGTO is by no means a defeated force, and have the capability to strike back. Preparation for counter attacks are underway from military forces of the systems, and reinforcements have been promised from the Hive and the ICC Headquarters.

UGTO leaders have expressed only consternation at the recent losses, but didn't go on the record as making any formal statements. While this is encouraging to some members of the rival goverments, some see it as merely a sign that the response will be in the form of actions, not words.

Doubtlessly, neighboring systems still under UGTO rule but not heavily guarded are awaiting the reaction of the UGTO Navy...

In a follow-up report to yesterday's story of widespread revolts against UGTO rule, we bring you further news of the shifting balance of power in the Universe. In the past day, it seems more systems have broken from the Organization and freed themselves from its influences. The K'Luth Empire has gone on a rapid counter-offensive, bringing their holdings to over 100 planets, and establishing a solid line of territory, from Delta Pavonis, down to BD+4344, and across through the Williamses to Procyon. They seem content for the moment to have re-established "thier" territory, and haven't launched any attacks into UGTO or ICC holdings outside of this perimeter. However, defense forces are, as ever, on the alert.

The ICC has had a more difficult time convincing some of the local planets to rebuke the UGTO and rejoin them in the rebellion. Whereas the K'Luth seemed to rely primarily upon their Bio Bombs to convince, the ICC seem to be waging a more difficult war for the hearts and minds of the citizens of Tau Ceti, Luyten, Ross 248, and Cygnus. They have the renewal of ties with all systems east of CD+36, but those systems to the west are proving more reluctant - but those systems are also more heavily "reminded" of the value of faith to the UGTO. In a rather stunning move, half of the planets of the Ross 348 system have declared allegiance with the Confederation, seemingly without fear of reprisals. Whether this is due to the rumored relationship between the Chancellor's son and the Daughter of the Governor of Ross 8 is still under speculation. It will be interesting to see if the rest of the system goes with their rebellious brethren, or whether the UGTO recruit them back to their cause.

Only time will tell.
