Your furnace will still circulate some air in the summer, well most do anyway. It just won't heat any of it
In any case the air blown through your heating vents will be filtered at that point.

BLAST IT!
it seems it's still not working
problem: anything that displays 3-d graphics locks up. and my speakers start making a stuttering sound...
I know my GPU is old (Geforce2)....perhaps it finally bwoke...
and I just did a fresh install of graphics drivers.......god it sucks when the game loads, and everything, you get about 2 seconds of moving the mouse, and "kaboom".

Could be your CPU aswell, check your CPU's temperature in bios on boot, then play a few intensive games for a while (30 minutes), reboot and take a look again.

Any errors it finds is bad, you need new memory.

Talking about fried computer parts brought that smell right back to me, hehe.
Two things:
1) The fan always seems to get the most dust on it first, check that on a regular basis. That will help with heat and also move air through there, so hopefully less dust.
2) If you really wanted to go overboard about dust you could do a few things. I got longer cables that enabled me to place the tower in my closet off the floor. I also had a aircleaner running in there as well.
Or what I have now is a wood and glass enclosured box (meant for a stereo system) that I keep it in. Just make sure that there is extra room and not airtight so that it doesn't overheat.
What's nice also is that I don't have the annoying computer sound going on. Either its gone or very low.
