Before you can go in game, you need to make sure you have initialized Darkspace's video settings...
Click "SETUP" above and then set your resolution size and bit setting...

i dont know about the dell, but i got a no name brand new comp with the intel chip set and Intel(R)82915G intergrated graphics, (dual channel memory boared, 4 slots). At default it was set to 32MB of ram, i had to go in my bios to make it 128 MB. Check what ur currently at with it, maybe u need to increase the memory of it. My mobo and bios was dated November 21st 2004.
Personally at 128 this intergrated set I found gave more proformance then my 8x Geforce FX 5600 (128 MB).
But, my point is i use almost the exact same video set as u said urs was by that model No. and i play DS with full out graphics + specular.
Anyway thats my input here.

Dude... thats your NEW comp? That beats my comp out in only one regard... RAM & thats 'cause I have no need for a gig... and my dell is almost 3 years old now! lol
Err, forgot the customary Dell owner advice...
Step 1) Get a clean Windows XP SP2 (why, a legitimate copy of course, why do you ask?) CD (Bootable CD)
Step 2) Format.
Step 3) Install the clean Windows XP, use default drivers to get on the internet & then download fresh drivers off the hardware manufacturer's websites for all your components
Step 4) Repeat in about 1-2 years time, depending on how heavy you use the comp

Dont do the above, Dell will have installed fine drivers for you to work with.
The graphics card is intergrated, and that, im guessing, is creating the problem. My solution would be to get a proper graphics card (from a friend), install it and see if darkspace works. You can also try fiddling around with the display settings by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties, then going to the setings tab and hitting the Advanced button.
Although in theory that should be fine to play DarkSpace, intergrated GFX cards cause no end of hastle with games and other programs, as it shares system memory.
If you havnt done what pimbk has already said, do it, because some games dont like running when theres less than 128 memory apature size.

Have you ever owned a Dell? They use their own brand of generic drivers & clutter your comp up with a bunch of Dell brand software that no self respecting gamer would ever have on their harddrive...

I only use Dell laptops and white box everything else...
But I still wipe my Dell Laptops clean soon as I get them for the above reason. I'll use their restore disk, it will put the base OS and base drivers on, but none of the marketting granny software I dont want or use.
