Carrying one or two flux waves isn't stooping to low levels, in my opinion.
Carrying 4 or 5 or more along with 5 ELF beams is.
Many ICC including myself make it a point to have at least one or two Flux aboard to deal with the K'luth. Now, when we're fighting UGTO, if we don't use the flux we're at a firepower disadvantage because of the Heavy slots the flux is in, that could be used to carry more torps.
Against UGTO, raw firepower is preferable to flux, but against K'luth (who DO, like it or not, use more flux more often than humans) carrying your own Flux is sometimes vital to survive, especially when you're being gang banged by 3 or 4 K'luth dessies.
