Fleet Wars was attempted way back in 2003. The servers crapped out and the whole thing was a failure, mainly because the CPU's were inadiquate then and the code wasn't as optimized as it is right now. It could be attempted, but I wouldn't be suprised if the servers crapped out again.

I've been involved in several non-planetary based massive fleet engagements since 482 - both as UGTO and ICC, and it was actually less laggy than it is around planets (they were around jumpgates) and probably the most combat fun I've had yet.

ummmm...have you checked the MV lately? The k'luth have been pushed way back. The turnaround has been amazing.
I heard someone theorizing today that many people must have alternate accounts because when there's lots of k'luth, not so many humans. Many humans, not many k'luth.
