Well was haunting the release lobby again when i saw a player mention he had to swap his JD so he could let it recharge.
ofcourse he fuel was gone when he put it back in place.

so here's my suggestion/question

is it possible for items to retain theyr ammo/fuel when unmounted?

this could give a pretty new dimension to salvaging...

right now its cool 1 AM torp launcher but its always empty.

then you would get please let it have some ammo

now i know players will be able to carry more ammo this way *just keep spare parts in cargo bay*
but that will deny em having Troops as well

Good idea.

Perhaps it could be given half of its ammo hold though, so if the player had 42 torps left when he died, and it got droped. The launcher has 21 ammo when picked up.

Nice idea, but I think it would cause complications with bombing. Would allow for more bombs than you're supposed to carry.

The system is as it is now to keep the above mentioned exploit and exploits like it from happening again. Ammo use to transfer with a device... There were issues. So now it doesnt...

Maybe make a special cargo object that makes it possible to reload certain types of weapons (IE missiles and torpedo launchers only)
You buy an additional load of ammo for that specific device and then by right clicking the object in cargo and then clicking the device slot it will reload the slot taking approx 5-10 times the normal recharge cycle.
These reloads could be set to a reasonably large cost. Maybe 50% or more of the weapon cost.
Once used the cargo object would then be lost.
