To the best of my knowledge, the Medusa engine does not include any of our server code, net code, or any of the code that makes DS what it is.

That's a shame. It seems to me that Medusa would be best sold as a complete 'package' for those wanting to make an mmog. Because, as far as graphics engines go, Medusa seems a bit dated (assuming DS fully implements it's features of course). Take for example bumpmapping, LoD, multi-platform support, avi streaming, dynamic lighting, 3d sprites... I don't mean to be pessimistic, but there are better engines on sourceforge, free.

DarkSpace doesn't fully take advantage of it, but it is, regardless, an old engine.

Will the source code be commented? Seems like a silly question, but I enjoy learning via taking stuff apart and seeing how it works (thats how I learned how to work with EVNEW), and maybe I could use the code to sorta enrich my knowledge of code and possibly do something useful with it.
On a different note, if Medusa and GameCQ are released, maybe more people might consider working for Palestar and maybe more Palestar games. That would bring more traffic in here.

Its been, what.. three days? Two? Plus, Faustus posted yesterday that he was working on the "Ship spawns without a pilot" bug.
Patience.

A quick question about gameCQ. I take gameCQ to mean the darkspace 'lobby' including the chat system. But darkspace has its own chat system that very similar and works together with it. So, is the in-game chat system part of gameCQ or part of Medusa, or is it unique to darkspace?

GameCQ and DarkSpace share the same chat system... the chat in the game is just on a different server from the lobby chat. That's basically the only difference (plus some code to tell what team you're on and such, but that's not too different from rooms and such).
However, that code doesn't come along with GameCQ.
