An AD can rotate his shields, and if he is smart, and DOESN'T fire in alpha strikes (n00bs), and saves his lasers for after the armor is down, the EAD is toast. Has a mine slot too. It comes down to pilot skill, intangibles; blanket statements dont work I don't think.

You should see a generic Battle Situation tho and not the rare case of a 1on1 duel between roughly equally skilled Pilots.

The EAD definitely has more standing Power in a Battle.

well when i resub why dont we test egsactly wich ship is better.

set up a few one on ones..... say

pilot A vs Pilot B, AD vs EAD, then switch ships and do it again.

then well see if its the pilots or the ships. =))

You'd have to do that double-blind to work tho, and i don't think you can hide to the Player what Ship he is using

Actually, a 1v1 duel AD vs EAD not only depends on equal ability, but also on level of ability.

for instance, a good EAD pilot can quite happily dictate to his opponent which armour quadrant hes firing at. Also, take into account, that whilst the AD has less available energy, this only becomes a matter when moving at full speed. Hence, the winner of the duel is normally the person who can best dictate the pace and the direction of the duel.

So, based on this, 2 players of average ability, the AD would most likely win. 2 players of superior ability, the EAD will most likely win.

Another good example of this was the old AC vs TC duel in 1.480. To most players, the result is simple, the AC wins every time. However, to those of us in the know, this was not the case. Between players of average ability, the AC would win every time. However, for players of superior ability, the winner would always be the TC pilot.
