Well, Star Wars has had all the crap movies since the original trilogy...

I still like 'em both though.

I don't know, I can't really compare the two. Star Wars is a gung ho "let's go kick some Imperial ass" movie series that is good at that, but severely lacking in anything profound (IE dialogue, plot). Empire Strikes Back was the best and the new ones suck, everyone knows this. For an action flick or two (or five), Star Wars is really good.

On the other hand, Star Trek at least makes an attempt to add a level of depth to the action. The Star Trek universe was much more complete as far as scientific data was concerned (well, except for the first series, which was severely lacking as far as technology was conbcerned, but one has to consider the technical level of the time period in which it was produced). Star Trek actually explained how the technology works and the fan base went "oh yeah, that makes sense) and the science world went "that is completely bonkers, but it's still a good show" etc.

And above all, Star Trek does offer more variety for different types of viewers since it has a lot more than just 5 movies and a crappy cartoon series (I mean the original Ewok series which no one remembers, not that new one). And no matter what you say, Star Wars pimped and spun off much better video games than Star Trek did. The only good ST game was Birth of the Federation, and that got a little old pretty quick.

Well, that's my analysis. Do with it what you will.

Your Mileage May Vary.
