I just reformated and I'm forced to use windows 2003 for the time (don't know if that will change too much) and I have downloaded the newest drivers for me Ge Force FX 5200

any ways when I try to connect to a server I get this error:

"O: Nvidia GeForce FX5200 1152x864x32

Failed to initializ display!"

I have tried changing the collor bit and screen resolution (and made sure it match what was in the client setup)

Any idea why I'm having this problem

looked in FAQ and didn't find it

I've tried it all the way down to 800x600

I think I found the problem, when I tried to play half-life it wouldn't let me use open GL, so something with my drivers is still out of wack

thanks anyways

I dont know if this means anything or not but I have an ATI Radeon 9200 and I know that if I use the windows drivers from the windows update site for that particular card it does not support open GL. I had to go to the ATI website directly and get thier driver......your problem might be similar.....just a helpfull suggestion!

Since you are running W/2003,there's a good bit of tweaking to have it run correctly in order to play games,(but when done right it blows away XP).

http://www.msfn.org/win2k3/
go threw all the steps.5 or 6 pages

ForceWare 56.72 Win2000/XP WHQL
5 th driver down.

also don't forget to install audio drivers, and DirectX 9.0b

theres something not right about the latest driver 56.72 from nvidia i'm having the same troubles now after downloading it...got it straight from nvidias website...i dont know maybe i'll go back to my old driver...

to tell the truth my troubles started with dx9b...i had to download the latest nvidia driver to clear up some issues that surfaced when i installed 9b..wonder if i could go back to an older directx version...everything worked fine before

update reinstalled 56.72..now it seems to work...something strange though when i shut down the computer now there is a program running in the background that windows has to end program before it shuts down called ccAPP i think this has something to do with the nvidia file ...but hey if it works i'm happy not gonna complain...just will try not to sneeze around my computer for the time being lest it decide not to work again...
