Well, you've seemed to overlooked something, and now K'luth can have two cloaks on their ships because the autorepair and cloak slots are of the same type. This is something that is really bad and needs to be fixed immediately.

Earlier today I was on the beta defending a planet from a gangila, the planet had 3 sensor bases, we had 3 EADs each running an ECCM...and we couldnt detect him from < 500gu away.

FIX! FIX FIX!

And now...time for some more K'luth cloak horror stories...

I was with Baron in beta too... the Ganglia only appeared in short bursts even though we had sensor bases and ECCM on...

Actually, it was 4 ship mounted and 5 or so planet sensors and we were only getting blips of him from 500 gu away.

Here's the skinny on how this works...

Each cloaking device applies an ammount of negative sig to your ship, equal to the base sig of your ship plus the sig generated by your engines.

Now, lets say your ship has 6 base sig, and it's engins are generating 4 sig.

One cloaking device will then apply -10 sig to your ship (6 for hull + 4 for engines, multiply by -1). this would bring your total sig to 0.

Now, when you have a second cloaking device, the first one applies -10 sig, then the second one applies -10 additional sig. This brings your sig to a total of -10.

So, the larger your ship, and the faster you go, the lower your sig becomes.

It was me, Nelson, and Malduc who first heard about this in Sol, we think it needs to be sorted, asap, it is one HUGE problem, wether the game is Beta or not, the fact we cannot stop the K'Luth from owning the Beta MV, there for stoping any further testing due to them killing us, or stoping us spawning ships....

This is a huge problem:

A: because the first cloak takes any signature from the drives and ship to 0, the second takes it down to -10, this means that when the K'Luth fire, we can no longer see them at all... I had to build 6 sensor bases on the nearby planet just to get glimpses of him every 2 seconds ( and we had 4 dreads with ECCM running )

( POSSIBLY) B: the second problem is that 2 Auto repairs can also be equiped...this means that even if we do see them, they can repair faster than possibly a normal supply ship suping them....I am not sure as I myself am GTN there for UGTO....

I urge this problem to be fixed via one of F's bandaids please

This is one EXRETEMLY annoying bug that needs to be fixed asap....

While your at it fix them defense bases, they are absolutely useless. I mean particle cannons on a lvl 3 def base? You really think that is going to hurt anything bigger than a mosquito? They just dont work.

No, I think Malduc was going over the number of ECCM devices they had in the area. 4 on ships, and 5 sensor on planets. I don't think he meant 4-5 cloak per ship.

No, they cannot. Neither can the ICC jump cruiser mount the auto hull repair or cloaking device.

Those are all faction restricted.

I noticed this the other day, I posted it in the Bug reports and Discussion thread because it's potentially a huge problem (guess that's confirmed now huh?).

The other day the heavy armor on my drone engineer was in a fighter bay...that's since been fixed.

Yea F, I was speaking of 4 ship mounted eccm, and 4-5 planet based sensor bases were active, and we were only getting blips of the kluth, 500 gu from our planet.

Gideon, faction restrictions are disabled for technical reasons currently.. basically, it's always been broken in the UGTO/ICC aliance maps because of the design.

Like we discussed the other day about opening up all devices to all factions, I'm still toying with that ideal... as I'm still leaning towards that it may in fact may make things more fun for everyone, and thats after all the entire point of playing a game

I was planning to discuss this more on monday at the dev meeting...
