Currently they will stay in the forum until you delete it or until some UGTO will flux the forum
I don't know how much space they occupy, but as I want to give Chromix some work, a auto-deletion for messages older than 3 or 6 months would be nice

Why? I have spam sent to my by Rogue Spear months ago that is priceless. Distruction of these simple messages and odd sideshow self-images would shatter my life as I know it. Please, everytime a PM gets deleted God kills a n00b. Please, think of the poor n00bs.

Offline messages within GCQL are deleted after a week.

Its not much of a load, really.. I think our 150,000 forum messages are more server work than our 1400 private messages.
And besides, there are some interesting messages saved out there, I'm sure. I have a few, and apparently so does Quant, so I'd rather avoid an auto-delete.
And if you really get tired of deleting each one, just wait for the website to be updated; there's now a page that allows for bulk-deletion of messages.

I don't know about everyone else but I have never gotten a private message in the 2 year or more I have been here
