Often while defending against K'luth from a parked posistion without ECCM support, I will use manual targeting to sweep the area near my ship with a laser beam or two

When my beam comes in contact with an enemy ship, the beam is disrupted, letting me know that there is a ship there... I then procede to mash the spacebar...

Perhaps a new mode of weapons fire should be created, allowing weapons to be projected within a specific cone of fire... (say a 35 degree angle?)... This would be good for both locating cloaked ships, and for creating supressive fire...

This function would be toggled using the alt key, and directed with the ctrl key... when activated, a flat (green?) semi-transparent cone would be projected into the space directly in front of your ship. Then, using the ctrl key, you would be able to rotate this cone into the desired posistion.

Share, enjoy

That sounds like a very helpful tactic. It would also fit the name "Firestorm" really well.

Wow, this is a good idea...

To have an actual firing function instead of having to do it all manually...

Great Idea!

I agree
you could fire disrupters and torps, or any other weapon and it would weave the fire back and forth.....

- it could cover the area,. ; the computer could spread your fire out..
The beam could be the same as manual
Firing just moving untill there is an impact
Then it give you a target lock and you can open fire.....!!

Got my vote, we do it manualy as it is. We might as well get a system that lets us do it
