A lot of people I'm sure like DarkSpace when they come play it, but I think the pay-to-play part turns a lot away.
I'm thinking that a one-time in-store or online purchase of a DarkSpace CD and it comes with some sort of registering code. The one-time purchase would be $40-$50 or something like that. Of course, the simple one-time payments made by players probably won't be enough to sustain DS very long, so the subscription still stands. Instead, the player's subscription would have a life-time discount pnce once the registration code has been applied to the account. I'm thinking the discounted price would be $2-$5 like that... People are probably more willing to make a one-time payment than a subscription, but this sounds like an even negotiation between the both (I think).

haha letting people play unlimited for 40-50 dollars would be dumb.
Giving people a 4 motnhs coupon for a $50 game might be a plan though.
Not that it really matters since they will be paying more then a normal subscription would cost them

No, not unlimited play for $50. A discounted subscription is what I'm saying. Maybe 25% off the account subscription it was applied to.
I also know very well a one-time payment would bring down any Massively Multiplayer Online Game.

there are special offers from time to time... there was a special deal like 8$ for 1 month subscription, there'll be another one for sure =)
