Part 3: Defeat
The Empire was in chaos. In mere days, the humans had captured most of the home system, and the inner systems Lacaille and Groombridge 34. All that remained was the Taf Cluster, with the heavily defended moons Cya and 2512; Sag Hothha itself; and Leaph, a small planet near the homeworld.
The largest portion of the fleet resided at Sag Hothha, for it was the birthplace of the Empire; the place where one clan aspired more than rulling a continent, a planet or even a system. They wanted the entire Galaxy, for only a domain of that size was suited for an Empire.
But that was not the main reason. What truly mattered, and inspired the deepest of fears in all K'luth, was that fact that the Queen herself resided here. It was a forced residence, as she carried an Heir to the Empire. Untill the Heir was born, She was confined to the planet.
The acolytes gathered in the Great Tower, discussing how the Empire was to survive this, when suddenly, thousands of voices shrieked their mental scream. The battle that had raged for hours had been concluded. Leaph had fallen.

Part 4: Birth
The last Chitins and Predators left the battlefield, as the nimble but numerous human ships finished off the last few Mantis', who were to slow to flee. Torpedoes and cannons struck the fleeing ships, which attempted to take with them several dozen frigates and destroyers. This still left the with a few thousand more. Thus the Taf Cluster fell, leaving the Empire with only their home planets and not even a thousand war-torn vessels.
The Empire was at it's most desperate moment since it became a space-faring race. Attempting to take advantage of their cloaking technology, massive amounts of Electronic Counter Measures were fired up, in an attempt to nullify the human sensors. all were grim, prepared to die in battle trying to save their Queen. Prayers were chanted, ancient feuds settled, and old debts let off.
Suddenly, all felt as though they had gone deaf. Psionic cries were shouted, but none could hear them. In the deep silence, a voice, soft as silk, whispering like a summer breeze, spoke. Acolytes, warriors, drones. The moment of truth has come. Soon the humans will arrive here. Yet the Empire shall live, for we have an Heir. Noone attempted to speak; the silence was no longer enforced. As the Queen continued, the tone of her voice was harsher. I will take the Princess with me on the first transport. She shall remain safe with me. For the Empire!
The collective roar of renewed vigor shook the planet and the ships.

Part 5: Approach
As the last dreadnoughts entered normal space, scouts and frigates were already zooming around, scanning for targets. They all had their sensors at maximum power, but watched in awe as their signature dropped to zero. Even the massive dreadnoughts were electronically invisible.
"Dear Lord," whispered Fleet Admiral Roland Carr. "All ships: prepare for manual targetting. Fire at any point in space where beams or torpedoes originate from, without risking friendly fire."
"Fleet confirms orders, sir. Do we continue as planned?" asked Captain Murray.
"Yes, but give orders to fly in tight formation and reduce cruise speed by 5.0," replied Carr, "... and launch all fighters in defensive formation."
Slowly, the UGTO/ICC fleet crawled forward, torpedoes armed and lasers on auto-defend. Several ICC vessels held their recently developed Pulse Wave, capable of destroying most torpedoes and missiles within range. The much older Pulse Beam technology war already present on all ICC vessels, and even some UGTO possesed pirated versions of this anti-missile lasers.
They were fully prepared. They had left nothing to chance. Nothing could go wrong.
Except for one thing...

Part 6: Trap
It was clear the humans were all here. The fleet remained invisible, both to sensors as to sight. They waited for the humans to close in towards the planet. Closer and closer they came, when suddenly, everyone heard the primal, unhalted rage; one voice started the scream, millions finished it: Attaaaaaack!
Disruptors screeched, torpedoes roared, Psi Missiles flew towards a target.
Almost a third of the human fleet had been destroyed in the initial strike. Suddenly, dreadnoughts and cruisers found themselves without escorts, clearly starting to panic, but decided to make orbit.
Watch your fire now, the Queen spoke. The warriors didn't understand; most ships had formed a ring around the human ships, without any risk of hitting their fleetmates.
That moment, a bright flash lighted the sky of Sag Hothha, and all Kluth knew: the Queen went to battle, and she was furious. Are the piercers in position? The responce followed immediately: The humans are trapped, my Queen!
A gruesome laughter arose, as the Hive uncloaked; a vessel almost the size of the planet, with an armament rivalling that of a complete fleet. Others followed the example, revealing themselves to the humans, as the Hive fired it's weapons.

Part 7: Death
Fleet Admiral Carr stared at the newly arrived behemoth, it's size larger than Luna. In quiet awe, he couldn't utter a single word; the rest of the fleet was speechless for a moment as well. Then a voice cried: "There are multiple interdictors present, sir... We're trapped!"
Carr tried swallowing, but couldnt. As he opened his mouth to give an order, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. With his last look, he saw the AntiMatter Torpedoes roar towards them; like many, he died of a heart attack even before his ship exploded.
As the Hive destroyed a dreadnought with a single volley, all other vessels opened fire. A few Chitin were lost, unable to dodge or absord the return fire consisting of Proton and Fusion Torpedoes. The Hive fired again, destroying another dreadnought. Soon enough, the entire human fleet had been destroyed, leaving most of their freshly conquered planets undefended.
Acolytes, warriors, drones. You have fought well. Now let us liberate these planets which are rightfully ours. Her voice dwindled to a whisper. ...and set the universe on fire, as we eradicate all human presence.

As you can all clearly see, i had some free time
Anyway, I've written up to part 17 now, and the end not nearly in sight.
Another note: i know a hive cant kill a dread with one volley ingame, but in the story it can and not just that... well, just dont think about how it would be ingame too much

~...and I thought a normal hive CL2king my spiffy scout to death was bad enough. It's a gooooood thing we don't have FAs dancing around in one of those.
~Anyway, very nice Rock. And at least you spared the old human commanders by allowing them to have heart attacks. Better to die by a fault of humanity than an AM Torp.
