this is a bigger ship tha a crusier yet smaller than a dread. it is with the crusiers but is much bigger than a cruiser. you MUST have 2nd Rear Admril and gold combat to command this massive ship. i fomabale fore if used right. but alone it can be quickly over taken but will put up a fight.

Please don't post new ship configs until you see v1.482, and have a better grasp about how the new design of DS works for ships.

Hey Gidoen these ship and Wepaons i have had for about two months now. and this is the frist time i was able to get online to post them. so please do not just go up and shot me down. like it seams you are doing. i'd LOVE to help out with the design of DS, be haveing my ideals put into the game. BUT each time i try to there shot down before they can even make it out of the jump gates, or ship yards. i had many more ship and wepons but i did not feel like putting them all up. like a scout ship with sabots, a frigate gunboat with a new projection gun.

Ship designs are changing DRASTICALLY in 1.482, Lenna. Your designs might have merit to them, yes, but they are using the 1.480 system. They will require an extreme overhaul to fit into 1.482.

Well i still stay that theser ship desings will work good with the new layout and everything. but IF i can get the NEW layouts for ships i'll do the reworking to get these in working order and then now that i'm on the UGTO maybe make up some new UGTO ships now that i know the UGTO better.

Lenna,

Nice layouts, though with the release of 1.482 (coined the balance patch) we are majorly revamping ship layouts... We are still hammering out the fine points so cant offer you any suggestions in how to ammend your proposal until we finish our task of laying it all out.

So once we get 1.482 out in beta it should give you some good ideas where we are heading and changes to the ship loadouts...

This one isn't exactly new either... 3rd time I've seen it, but in every other case, it was suggested for EVERY faction.

looks like the current supplies only a bit stronger and a much bigger hull.

UGTO have something like your Torp scout. They also are the only ones to have a scout with a laser.
Plus, as far as I know, they want to get away from scout warships. They're for exploreation and recon.... Not for wasteing a frigate or weak destroyer singlehandedly.

Though some of these ideas have been suggested repeatedly, all this means is that they are rather popular ideas. Nothing wrong with that.
Some of these may be a little extreme/weak in my opinion though. (Not shooting you down or anything, just opinion)

Ion cannons are from Homeworld, homeworld cataclasum and homeworld two. If i typoed any of the spelling i'm sorry i do not have the games before me right now, and i'm very bad at spelling. As for the ion cannon it will by a meduam ranged weapons that carry a good punch to it quite possable the most POWERFUL weapon in DS, BUT it must have a HUGE power drain and LONG rearm times to make it a blanced wepon. that i leave up to the DEV team to work out.

At this point, we have no clue what the plan is for the immediate future of DS design, or if there even is one. Dev team is operating in the dark here.


So, I can't comment intelligently on your proposal, without some understanding as to where it relates to the overall picture of DS.


It's not a bad set of suggestions.

One personal note, is that I would prefer something like the Ion Cannon be not like homeworld. More like a med range (about 2800 gu) torpedo type weapon. No homing. Large blast radius (about 200gu). major damage. LOOONG recharge time (close to a minute), and massive power requirements (about enough to drain the ship it's on flat).

That, however, is just a personal prefference. You should know, that the DS engine doesn't do fixed mounted beams well. They will animate, but won't do any damage. Something to do with how the game applies damage from untargeted beam fires, or something. At any rate, F informed us that such a weapon wouldn't work in the game engine. He might make it so that such a weapon works later. I really have no idea.


However, I have no idea, at all if any such weapon would ever be implemented in DS, or what form it would take in any way.

Sorry, I can't really comment on the ships, because I don't have enough information.
