Ok as it is now getting your engines damaged up to 99% reduces your turn rate acceleration not to mention totally destroying your brakes.
however when it hits 100% damaged you just STOP instantly.

whats up whit that?
Shouldnt you float on at your current speed and direction?

perhpas make you tumble making it realy look like your adrift.

this instant stop is lame.

Yes. Instant stop is retarded. That and it messes up the enemy targeting.

It's a good idea on paper

I see it as, most ships fly around at cetain speeds..so when this happens when you're battiling, you just keep going at x gu/per second. unless you do some coding and have it slow down bya certain amoun of gu/per second.

Realistic, I like it,...

I want to see them just keep going at normal speed, and a cool Idea would be another system called Manouvering jets or thrusters something.
So when engines go out on your dread you could fly lets say towards Sol and turn your ship around while still going towards sol just drifting backwards and fire foreward guns or whatever.

See, that would be cool.
Just like the first episode of BeastWars when the Decepticons shoot out the AutoBots engines and they use their thrusters to fire their main cannons.
Like how you drift in Escape Velocity if anyone knows that game.

if its gonna be a instant stop and you JD is still alive DONT MAKE the JD suffer cause your engines are dead and your stopped but you can slow down to jump

I've not only heard of EV and EV override but played it repeatedly for years until I lost the only mac I had access to. Lately though a mac came back in to my access area so I started playing again.
Some of the moves that I've pulled off like slided across the screen firing missles at some unlucky confederate cruiser or antonida kestrel that was pestering my poor souped-up corvette cruiser while taking very little damage was pretty neat. When your ship has very little shielding or armor, but has a speed increase and has 30-40 missles there really is no point in going broadside with the huge warships in ev when you can spend 20 missles disabling them and still live to board their ship and have the capacity to defend yourself if another ship attacks.

Anyway this could also fix the tracking bug since you will be still moving at a constant speed you just cant control where you going or find the brakes anymore

Instant Stop is stupid. After your engines are dead you should continue at your current velocity till fully stopped.

While we are on the subject of engines... What do you guys think of a E- stop. Well it does say collision alert, but not much you can do if you turn too slow or are going to fast.

E-Stop kind argues against Realism i do agree that not being able to stop/turn from the planet fast enough is a little... lethal. But there is nothing in space or on Ship that could "Instantly" stop a ship (except for the dictation during jumping... thats a differen story) There would have to be a Cushioned WALL infront of the ship (Like a Planet thats made out of Pillow).... well thats explaination from realism.

But would it be possible to do Engine braking? From the looks of the 2 engined commercial jets, the rear part of the Engine (during landing for brake) would fold right behind the engine directing the thrusts toward a 60 degree angle toward front giving the aircraft some braking power.

Could there be an option in switching the engines to braking mode where it sacrifice Turning and Energy to Quickly decrease speed and actraully go backwards at 3-5gu (depending on ship)
